Former Republican Gov. Charlie Crist begins his Democratic quest for his old job with a 47-to-40 percent lead over GOP Gov. Rick Scott, according to a Quinnipiac University poll that also finds strong support for legalizing medical marijuana and keeping Florida’s “stand your ground” self-defense law.
The first major public poll since Crist formally launched his campaign this month shows voters disapproving of Scott’s job performance by a 47-to-42 percent margin. Only 37 percent of voters say Scott “deserves to be re-elected,” with 53 percent saying he doesn’t deserve a second term.
