A senior engineer working for Palm Beach County’s traffic division has been picked to serve as the director of the countywide Metropolitan Planning Organization.
Nick Uhren, who has worked with the county’s engineering department for nearly 10 years, was selected from a pool of four candidates. County commissioners are expected to ratify the MPO’s decision on Tuesday.
The organization oversees how state and federal money for roads and transportation improvements is spent. Its governing board includes five county commissioners, 13 elected officials from 11 cities and towns and one elected official from the Port of Palm Beach.
Uhren replaces former director Randy Whitfield, who retired from the $151,000-a-year post in February.
