Florida hospital leaders urged state lawmakers Monday to endorse the Medicaid expansion allowed under the federal health care overhaul, saying the move will improve patient care and save both the industry and taxpayers millions of dollars.
But a conservative policy analyst warned a House committee examining the Affordable Care Act to be wary of talk about savings. Several states that expanded Medicaid over the past decade still saw hospitals burdened by uninsured patients crowding emergency rooms.
