Florida lawmakers are moving forward with a National Rifle Association-backed measure aimed at blocking dangerous mentally ill people from buying guns.
The Florida Senate Criminal Justice Committee unanimously approved the measure Monday. An identical proposal has cleared two House committees already and, given the NRA’s support, is almost certain to pass both chambers before the session ends.
