The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ invitation for comments at a public hearing on its $1.8 billion plan to restore the central Everglades drew just 31 members of the public Wednesday.
The hearing is one of five the Corps is holding throughout the region to give the public an opportunity to comment on its 3,000-plus page “project implementation report” that will connect restoration projects already underway in the northern and southern Everglades. Although attendance was low, the Corps expects to receive more than 100 written public comments on its website.
