Former Florida Republican Party Chairman Jim Greer pleaded guilty Monday to theft and money laundering charges, moments before the scheduled start of a trial that had both of the state’s major political parties bracing for damaging revelations.
Statewide Prosecutor Nick Cox told The Palm Beach Post that his office would ask Orange County Circuit Judge Marc Lubet to order Greer serve 3 ½-years in prison, the amount recommended for first-time offenders under state sentencing guidelines.
