City officials on Wednesday tried to justify proposed changes in downtown parking, including requiring people to pay for meters until midnight instead of 7 p.m., but downtown merchants say the city’s supposed financial gain will actually be a loss.
“A lot of these stores are just starting to make it. To consider raising rates and increasing hours and ticket prices is suicidal,” said Palm Beach Photographic Centre managing director Art Nejame at a public workshop to discuss potential changes.
