Florida Gov. Rick Scott said Monday that he agreed to move an execution originally scheduled for this week at the request of Attorney General Pam Bondi, but he was unaware that her request was because she was concerned it would clash with the date of a campaign fundraiser she has planned in Tampa.
Bondi’s office originally defended the move, saying the fundraiser had been planned for weeks, but Bondi later said she should not have requested that the execution of Marshall Lee Gore be rescheduled from the night of her “campaign kickoff.”
