City Manager Corey Alston resigned Thursday, six weeks after he was charged with grand theft and placed on administrative leave.
Alston is accused of orchestrating a back-room deal that left him with $25,139 in compensation for 498 hours in unused sick time — a payment that prosecutors said was more than twice what he would have received had he left the city. He pleaded not guilty.
