Police in southern Palm Beach County cracked down on solicitors asking for money at street intersections this week, issuing citations for two groups of young men in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach asking for money without a permit.
The worse part, police said, was that the groups — both representing a semi-pro football league known as the South Florida 49ers — were asking for money to help fund an Alabama summer football camp that does not exist.
