Metro Mobility, the contractor that transports the elderly and ill for Palm Beach County, has violated so many areas of its contract, particularly vehicle safety, that Palm Tran’s staff is recommending the board of county commissioners consider terminating its contract.
The recommendation will be discussed when commissioners meet Tuesday. The commissioners’ options include firing Metro outright, terminating it in part, or keeping Metro on as the sole provider of van transportation for Palm Tran Connection, which provides low-cost door-to-door transportation to medical appointments, jobs and errands.
