For 60 years, I have been reading editorials. Your response to the Senate votes on gun control bills (“Profiles in cowardice”) was the worst I have ever read. You stooped to a new low in journalism in addressing Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., as a “toadie.” Toadies are defined as servile flatterers.
Sen. Rubio is a human being made in the image of God, just like you, and deserves our respect as a senator. Thank God many of those who were locked down in Boston neighborhoods have guns in order to protect their families. Regardless of laws, criminals will always have access to guns; that’s why we call them criminals. In my 10 years patrolling the streets of a Pennsylvania town as a police sergeant, I never once saw a gun walking down the street and go into a store or a home on its own to commit a crime.
