Thank you so much for Sunday’s stories “Florida’s mental health crisis.” I can already tell that Stacey Singer has an excellent grasp of the situation, which, unfortunately, is a reflection of the state of mental health care in the country.
My colleagues and I see the results of this daily in our emergency rooms. In 2012, I joined 120 emergency nurses from around the country in Washington, where we presented lawmakers with findings based on research and and asked for more funding of mental health. This week, I am in Tallahassee to represent the Florida Emergency Nurses Association during Emergency Medicine Days. One of the my top tasks is increased funding for mental health in Florida.
