Regarding Florida Municipal Electric Association lobbyist Barry Moline’s letter to the editort (“FPL wrong to claim that it has the lowest electric rates in Florida”): We’re disappointed by Mr. Moline’s attempt to mislead The Post’s readers.
While Florida Power & Light Co. and Florida’s municipal utilities share a common goal of providing affordable, reliable electric service, Mr. Moline’s own report shows that our residential rates are the lowest in the state at both the 1,000-kilowatt/per hour level – the industry standard for comparison – and the higher-than-average 1,200-kilowatt/per hour level of use. In other words, the vast majority of our customers pay the lowest electric bills in the state. In addition, we offer some of the very lowest rates in Florida for businesses.
