I’d like to say three things to Greg Schaffer, the former U.S. Marine from Hypoluxo who is being told he must have his flagpole meet the town’s requirements or remove it.
First, I want to thank him for his service to our great country. Second, I’d like to suggest that he start acting like a Marine and practice the corps values of honor, courage and commitment. He should be courageous enough to accept the fact that the town is not denying him his right to fly the American flag. He should also honor the fact that there are rules that take the safety of others into consideration. And he should make a commitment to obey those rules.
