I am responding as a Cuban to Thursday’s letter “Cubans in U.S. get special treatment.” I don’t try to be a representation of every Cuban in this country but of the many relatives and friends I know who came and live in circumstances similar to mine.
I came to the U.S. 52 years ago with two sons in tow, one 5, the other 2. I brought only 60 pounds of clothing for each of us, a very good education, a complete trust in God and a desire to improve this country, not to take advantage of it. None of us expected to work in factories, to mow lawns, or to wash dishes, but we did and never complained about it.
