As a musician who is 51 years old and making a living playing live music locally, I found Frank Cerabino’s column “Old rock stars who won’t quit aren’t classic” not just insulting but clueless about music today.
While rock once ruled the airwaves and pop charts, today it’s barely a blip on the radar compared to hip-hop and R&B. Frank said to give rock back to the young? Well, the young don’t want it. Young people largely don’t give a stuff about live music performed by real musicians. They would rather see a lip-synched show featuring choreographed dancers on stage.
