Regarding the article “High court divided on gay marriage,” with the majority of Americans now supporting gay marriage, I can only hope that the Supreme Court takes into consideration this growing public opinion.
I would also like to point out that our Declaration of Independence clearly states that all citizens are entitled to “Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” By denying gay and lesbian citizens their right to marry, we are denying them their constitutional rights as well. Since the Supreme Court is divided on this issue, perhaps the justices should re-read this well-known phrase in the Declaration of Independence and unite for equality.
