The South Florida Water Management District’s inspector general has determined that neither Executive Director Melissa Meeker nor her staff did anything wrong in choosing a former district board member who was a business partner of Ms. Meeker to receive a lucrative billboard contract.
The inspector general’s report, however, does not address the key questions that have arisen since The Post reported on the program two months ago. Who put cryptic consideration of “public information systems” — digital billboards — on the water district governing board’s July 12, 2012 agenda? Why? At whose direction? The Post is seeking those answers through a public records request.
