House Speaker John Boehner’s failure to lead is at the root of the debt limit standoff. Regardless of the outcome, he tops the lengthy list of those who subjected America to an unnecessary crisis. Even if it is resolved before Thursday’s default deadline, Rep. Boehner’s many errors in judgment and tactics make it much less likely that Congress can fix underlying budget problems.
Rep. Boehner last week gave up on trying to solve the debt and budget crisis. He whined yet again that President Barack Obama refused to negotiate. His inaction left it to the Senate to find a solution.
