Tropical Storm Chantal is racing west across the Atlantic toward Florida, and the talk naturally turns to preparedness.
As The Post’s Christine Stapleton reported Tuesday, there’s great concern because lake levels in Lake Okeechobee are a foot above normal. “If this storm comes in,” one scientist said, “we’re really in trouble.” Water managers have to worry about integrity of the Herber Hoover Dike, but they also know dumping water into the St. Lucie Estuary and other outlets does big damage.
