Closure — or not — of the existing Flagler Memorial Bridge between Palm Beach and West Palm Beach is turning into an interesting mathematical exercise.
On the one hand are engineers whose calculations led them to insist that even though Palm Beachers and island businesses demand that the engineers keep traffic flowing during construction, safety requires closing the old bridge while the new span is built just to the south.
