Fortunately, the Florida Legislature’s terrible property insurance bill is in trouble.
The Florida Senate was scheduled to vote Tuesday on SB 1770, which could force up rates for some Citizens Property Insurance Corp. customers in Palm Beach County by as much as 84 percent. But the bill’s sponsor, Sen. David Simmons, R-Altamonte Springs, postponed the vote. He claimed that he had 21 votes to pass the bill, but that he wanted time to secure even more support.
