Ten years ago, few people would have raised questions or looked askance at the Palm Beach County Tax Collector’s contract with a marketing consultant named Marty Rogol. But thanks to efforts, led in part by Mr. Rogol, to change the county’s political culture, his dealings with the county office are receiving a new, deserved level of scrutiny.
Mr. Rogol objects to this. He points out that his payments from the tax collector’s office, in exchange for website design services, break no law or state ethics rules. But he should be pleased, not offended. That the question is being raised is a sign of his ethics-reform push’s success.
