For the first 10 months of this fiscal year, the federal budget deficit is down 38 percent from the same period last year. When the fiscal year closes Sept. 30, the deficit is projected to be about $759 billion, the smallest in five years.
What’s responsible for this good news? More revenue and less spending. It’s almost as if Congress had come to its senses.
