Here is what could happen tonight when the Boynton Beach City Commission debates City Manager Lori LaVerriere’s contract:
The four commissioners who voted to give Ms. LaVerriere the job permanently could give her the $170,000-per-year salary she is requesting. They could do so over the protests of Commissioner Steven Holzman, who called the request “appalling.” They could do so merely because they have the votes, just as they had the votes to promote Ms. LaVerriere against the wishes of Commissioner Holzman, who when not at a public meeting communicates with Ms. LaVerriere only through email.
