West Palm Beach officials say the city should outsource the community redevelopment agency. If it happens, they say, current CRA Director Kim Briesemeister won’t be guaranteed to get the contract. Consider us skeptical on both points.
Mayor Jeri Muoio points to the city’s projected $8.5 million budget shortfall and calls the outsourcing a potential saving. A city spokesman says the CRA’s personnel budget is nearly $850,000. The city would have to pay staff members directly or through a contractor, so the saving would appear minimal.
