The Florida Department of Health will review soil and water tests that a law firm claims show unacceptably high levels of radiation in some areas of The Acreage. Then the department will determine if further testing or other action is necessary. That’s the responsible approach, given the community’s designation in 2009 as a pediatric cancer cluster.
It was irresponsible, however, for attorneys Jack Scarola and Mara Hatfield last week to urge residents to stop using well water for drinking and cooking until the review is complete.
