What do you wish people knew about their dogs?
No. 1: The biggest thing is to keep their pets on heartworm medication. They don’t understand how high of a risk it is. I see a lot of heartworm-positive cases and it’s extremely expensive to treat. And it’s very painful.
No. 2: Don’t leave your dog in a hot car, even in the winter. Know the signs of heat stroke, and keep an eye on your pets when they’re out in the heat.
What do you do in your spare time?
I don’t have a lot of spare time, but when I do, I ride my horse. I try to ride at least a few times a week. He’s pretty out of shape.
What’s the best vacation you ever took?
I’ve been a lot of places, but Belize was my favorite place. I was there when I was 14 and I’m 30 now, and it’s still the place I’d like to revisit.
How do your recharge your batteries?
I love the beach. I like to surf, but I don’t get to do it a lot.
