Three members of the city’s Veterans Advisory Commission who initially opposed erecting a 9/11 memorial at Veterans Park announced Thursday that the monument will rest at the park — strategically between memorials for the two wars that ensued after the 2001 terrorist attacks.
The monument, a 4-foot granite slab along with a 40-pound, 12-by-14 inch piece of steel from the World Trade Center in New York, will be placed between two similar structures dedicated to service members killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
