Two cars that sell for $50,000 or more got into an accident today in front of a restaurant where a cup of coffee will set you back a dollar and change.
A metallic gray Porsche Boxster S rear-ended a green Jaguar in front of the Dunkin’ Donuts store in the 3500 block of South Dixie Highway, city police said.
The two people riding in the Jaguar were taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center, police said. The nature of their injuries was unavailable.
The woman driving the Porsche said her car was having some “brake issues,” police officer Will Pinto said, before it slammed into the back of the Jaguar shortly after 11 a.m.
The Porsche jumped the sidewalk and wound up in the bushes along South Dixie Highway, between Avenida Alegre and Monroe Drive. Another officer at the scene said the Porsche was going about 20 or 30 mph at the time the cars collided.
The woman who was driving the Porsche refused to comment, only saying, “(Stuff) happens. What are you going to do?” The man who was with the woman driving the Porsche said she was “traumatized.”
Pinto said the woman who was driving the Porsche was in the car by herself.
