Owners of single-family residential lots will no longer be responsible for the maintenance of sidewalks adjacent to their rear or side property lines along Crestwood Boulevard, Southern Boulevard and portions of Royal Palm Beach Boulevard north of Okeechobee Boulevard, Belvedere Road and SR 7.
In response to residents saying they have difficulty maintaining those sidewalks because of blocked or limited access, the village council last week unanimously voted in favor of amending an ordinance which had previously required homeowners in those areas to maintain sidewalks to avoid crumbling, discoloration or graffiti. Property owners were responsible for all maintenance other than repairs of cracks, holes, breaks and buckles, unless those conditions were caused by the owner.
