In a neighborhood without any small parks, Berkshire Elementary School in suburban West Palm Beach and its surrounding residents now have an oasis — a short walking trail less than a quarter of a mile long that surrounds a field.
This small green space, which opens at 9:30 on Saturdaywith a small ceremony, has freshly planted trees and butterfly plants, and the fence barrier that shelters it allows school officials to keep it closed and safe for school use. The public, including nearby families and residents, will have access on weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to sunset.
