The village hopes to save up to $30,000-a-year on energy bills by replacing outdated sports lighting in three of its parks with new energy-efficient lights that can be controlled from anywhere with a cell phone.
The council late last month approved a $422,421, one-year agreement with Musco Sports Lighting in Plantation to deliver 84 light fixtures that will be installed by a separate contractor later this year on a softball field at Camellia Park, on Bob Marcello baseball field five, on six basketball courts at Preservation Park and the great lawn at Commons Park.
