Jose Alfalla said he needs to be present at the annual Veterans Day ceremony in Wellington, where he lives, but it’s not an easy thing for him to do.
“It hurts because it just brings back so many memories,” said Alfalla, 81, a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. “So many of my family and friends died. But I served my country proudly and I’m proud to be an American, so I have to be here.”
