Mayor Bert Premuroso joined members of the city council, the fire chief and the police chief at the Riverside Youth Enrichment Center Thursday to read the book “Otis” to preschool kids as part of the national Read for the Record campaign to promote literacy.
Otis is the story of a special tractor who befriends a calf on a farm. City officials practiced author Loren Long’s hard-to-pronounce Otis sound — “putt, puff, putledy chuff”— as they warmed up to read to the kids.
