The plan for Avenir, a community proposed for the city’s western edge that would be twice the size of Jupiter’s Abacoa with 7,600 homes, a children’s hospital and a university campus, is turning up the noses of some city council members who will ultimately decide whether it can be built.
“It’s way too much,” Councilman David Levy said during Tuesday’s council meeting. “Ice cubes in Miami in the summer probably have a better chance than that project,” Levy said. “I think it’s DOA.”
