With only slightly more than one in 10 registered voters casting ballots Tuesday, local officials and residents say election officials need to work harder to educate the public of the importance of going to the polls.
“The elections are for candidates who reach into the public’s pocket for property taxes. Votes are especially important on municipal elections. Low turnout means your vote has more impact,” said Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher, who released the preliminary voting numbers Wednesday.
