In a rare moment of unity between Mayor Jeri Muoio and city commissioners, West Palm Beach last fall bought 7 acres on South Dixie Highway in a $2.9 million deal that ended Wal-Mart’s chances of using the land for a Neighborhood Market and became a major talking point for Commissioner Shanon Materio in her campaign for next week’s election.
Behind the deal for the 8111 S. Dixie Highway property was Richard Pinsky, a lobbyist who has ties to Muoio and a majority of the city commission.
