Close to 30,000 people attended the village’s July 4th celebration at Commons Park, leading to an unexpected traffic crush and forcing village officials to reexamine how it will host such large events in the future.
“We didn’t anticipate anywhere near the number of people who were in the park,” Lou Recchio, parks and recreation director, told the council last week. “July 4 was a great success, but you do learn a lot.”
