Buoyed by a $2 million donation, the 120-year-old Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church will break ground Thursday on its U.B. Kinsey Education & Community Center, at 801 8th St., across from the church in West Palm Beach’s Northwest neighborhood.
North Palm Beach residents Jeff and Lynda Jacobs had previously donated to the $5 million project, but recently upped their support by $2 million, allowing construction to begin immediately on the 10,000-square-foot, 2-story building, which will open in 2014 and house after-school youth tutorial programs, mentoring programs and senior programs, as well as an information center for community services, health care, and finances and care for the elderly.
