A year ago, Ricky Botolino lost his 11-year-old son to pancreatic cancer. This weekend, the Palm Beach Gardens man might have helped save another life, when he was flagged down outside a home in southern Martin County and pulled a man from the bottom of a swimming pool.
Martin County Fire-Rescue was called around 2 p.m. Saturday to the 100 block of South Beach Road in the town of Jupiter Island, just north of the Martin-Palm Beach county line. Division Chief Daniel Wouters said the person was taken in critical condition to Martin South Hospital in Stuart. Citing privacy laws, neither he nor a hospital spokesman would identify the man or provide an update on his status.
