The city should delay by one year the first payment on the $6 million internal loan used to finance the new casino building at Lake Worth Beach, the city’s finance director recommended Monday.
Finance Director Steve Carr made the recommendation to commissioners Monday during the first workshop held to discuss the city’s budget for the year that begins Oct. 1.

Lake Worth sets schedule for developing budget, tax rate
Here’s the schedule of Lake Worth city commission workshops and meetings being held to discuss and approve the city’s budget and tax rate for the year that begins Oct. 1. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at city hall:
May 23: Second budget workshop
June 11: Third budget workshop
June 12: Fourth budget workshop
July 2: Discussion of stormwater and garbage rates
July 9: Fifth budget workshop
July 10: Sixth budget workshop
July 16: Commission to set proposed tax rate
Aug. 13: Seventh budget workshop
Sept. 12: Commission sets fees and holds first public hearing on 2014 budget (tentative).
Sept. 24: Commission holds second public hearing and adopts final tax rate and budget.
