Mary Jane Scott has experienced a lot during her 80 years on the planet. She’s lived in the middle of New York City and worked as a buyer for Bloomingdale’s. She’s sold houses, sang in nightclubs and helped people buy hearing aids. The one constant throughout Scott’s life has been her love for horses. She has a home movie of herself at 1 year old, cantering with her father down the road atop his Tennessee Walker.
Horses are still a big part of her life. And on Dec. 7 at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center, Scott will honor her lifelong camaraderie with horses by doing a dressage test with her 20-year-old Arabian gelding, HA Bold Flyer. The pair will be the 14th team from Florida to join the Century Club – a group of riders whose age, combined with that of their horses is at least 100.
