More than 300 kids brought soda-bottle rockets, paper airplanes, model roller coasters and other creations to the South Florida Science Museum Saturday to find out how they stacked up against other students’ designs during the 27th annual Drop It, Build It, Fly It, Launch It, Thrill It Engineering Competition.
The design contest — open to elementary, middle and high school students — is intended to pique kids’ interest in science, technology, engineering and math (the so-called STEM fields) by making engineering design challenges fun.
