The city’s Community Redevelopment Agency board voted to support extending the lease of the Arts Garage, a small but thriving performance space in the Pineapple Grove neighborhood north of Atlantic Avenue.
Arts Garage Director Alyona Ushe told CRA board members that extending the lease from its current two years to a total of 3½ years would allow Arts Garage supporters to launch a fundraising campaign to buy the space it now leases from the CRA on First Avenue and Second Street. The Arts Garage’s current lease lasts until 2015.
