About 35,000 pounds of canned goods and nonperishable items were trucked into the Palm Beach County Food Bank Friday afternoon, a donation local food bank officials said is crucial to meet the “astronomical” needs of Palm Beach County’s neediest residents.
The donation, given by the faith-based Convoy of Hope, was brought into the Lantana headquarters of the food bank and as of next week will be distributed to more than 90 homeless shelters, food banks and food pantries that provide free food across the county.
