City commissioners on Tuesday unanimously approved an increase to the city’s property tax rate by 3 percent for fiscal year 2013-14, as well as a beef up of its overall budget by 7.6 percent compared with the current fiscal year.
The new rate is $7.90 per $1,000 of taxable property value. This means that for a home assessed at $184,783, minus the $50,000 homestead exemption, that property owner would pay $1,065 in taxes under the new rate.
