With flicks of gray dirt flying off twelve ceremonial shovels, discount grocer Aldi officially broke ground this morning on the 650,000-square-foot distribution center and regional headquarters the company is building at SR 7 and Okeechobee Boulevard.
“I’m like a kid waiting for Christmas,” Mayor Matty Mattioli said during the 20-minute ceremony in front of about 30 elected village officials, county commissioners and Aldi representatives. “I never dreamed Aldi would be coming to Royal Palm Beach.”
