Suspend ethics commission, state audit committee tells Palm Beach County

The state’s Joint Legislative Auditing Committee agreed Monday to ask Palm Beach County commissioners to immediately suspend the county’s 3-year-old Commission on Ethics, citing a state audit that found problems with the way the ethics branch operates.

The joint committee, chaired by Wellington state Senator Joe Abruzzo, also agreed to ask Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate allegations that an audio recording of an ethics commission hearing had been altered to cover up disparaging remarks.
